Engadget Chinese has posted pictures of a leaked roadmap which suggests that Lenovo is planning to launch a variety of Calpella based laptops in the beginning of 2010. Lenovo plans to launch these new notebooks under the X, T, W, SL, and SLc series as follows:
· SL series: 14-inch SL420 and 15-inch SL520
· X series: 12-inch X210, X210s, and X210t
· T series: 14-inch T410, T410s, and 15-inch T510
· W series: W710
The Calpella platform refers to the sixth-generation Centrino platform which will compete against AMD Fusion platform. Calpella is scheduled to release in Q4 2009 or later. The main features of Calpella are as follows:
Mobile Chipset
· Intel Mobile Express series chipset with Intel''s graphics technology that will allow for optimized decoding/encoding and editing/playback of H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video.
· Intel QuickPath Interconnect support will remove the outdated FSB technology.
· Direct connect to display port with DPCP with legacy support for HDMI, DVI, and VGA
· RAM support for DDR3-800/1066/1333/1600 MHz
· SSD and Hybrid hard drive support.
Mobile Processor
Processors will be based on Intel Nehalem microarchitecture and will feature a 45nm Quad Core version codenamed Clarksfield and a 32nm version codenamed Arrandale.
Wireless Network
It will support Intel WiFi Link 802.11a/b/g/n (codenamed Puma Peak) and WiMax 802.16 (codenamed Kilmer)
The roadmap also shows laptops based on the Montevina-GM45 platform, which are due for launch in later half of 2009. These models are as follows:
· 14-inch SL410
· 15-inch SL510
· 14-inch T400s
Montevina refers to the fifth-generation Centrino platform and is now formally known as Centrino 2 to avoid confusion with previous Centrino platforms. It was released on July 15. The main features of this platform are as under:
Mobile Chipset
· Intel Mobile 4 Express series chipset (codenamed Cantiga; GL40, GS45, GM45, PM45) with Intel''s GMA X4500 graphics technology and ICH9M southbridge.
· RAM support for DDR2-667/800MHz and DDR3-800/1066MHz
· NAND flash-memory branded as Intel Turbo memory.
· Support for display port with an external connector attached to the motherboard along with full support for HDMI, DVI, and VGA.
Mobile Processor
· Processor based on Socket P/ Micro-FCPGA/ Micro-FCBGA.
· 2nd generation Intel Core2 Duo 45nm processor (codenamed Penryn) with clock speeds ranging from 2GHz to 3.06GHz.
Wireless Network
· Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 mini-PCIe adapter (codenamed Shirley Peak 3x3) supporting up to 450Mbit/s.
· Intel WiFi Link 5100 mini-PCIe adapter (codenamed Shirley Peak 1x2) supporting up to 150Mbit/s Tx and 300Mbit/s Rx.
· Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350 mini-PCIe adapter (codenamed Echo Peak-P) supporting up to 450Mbit/s.
· Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150 mini-PCIe adapter (codenamed Echo Peak-V) supporting up to 150Mbit/s Tx and 300Mbit/s Rx.
