HP Mini 2140 being phased out

HP Mini was the first premium business netbook from HP, and it collected quite a few accolades along the way. The reasons for phasing it out should involve the latest 11.6-inch craze in the market, or more practically maybe an updated version is on the way with some latest technologies like built-in 3G etc. Digitimes reports of such a model named 2150.

The included processor was the Intel Atom N270 CPU with 1.6 GHz and the Intel 945GSE chipset and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 were built in as well. The netbooks RAM could get expanded up to 2 GB and a common hard drive with a capacity of 160 GB was installed as well. There were also two versions of the drive: one with 5.400 RPM and one with 7.200 RPM.

The new HP Mini 2140 netbook was equipped with a 10.2-inch 16:9 display. The manufacturer offered two different versions of the screen, which differ by their resolution. One offered 1.024 x 576 pixels and the other one provided a resolution of 1.366 x 768 pixels.

Furthermore, a VGA webcam, wireless LAN and n ExpressCard/54 slot were included too. The standard battery provided 3-cells but there is also a 6-cell battery available. The manufacturer claimed a runtime of up to 8.5 hours with the bigger battery.

It is to be noted that HP has recently announced three new netbook models – the Mini 110XP, Mini 110Mi and the Mini 1101 which will be a part of HP Mini series of netbooks. The above three models will be available in new designs, which are a signature of the HP brand.
